22 Mar, 2017

Collector Customs Qurban Ali Khan formally inaugurated a new state warehouse in Hayatabad at a ceremony held here on Tuesday. In addition to the new warehouse, a huge space has been earmarked for storing smuggled goods, while barracks have been constructed for the department's class-IV employees. The event was attended, among others, by additional collectors Syed Fazle Samad, Rashid Habib, deputy collectors Mohammad Zakir, Athar Naveed, Khiyal Mohammad and assistant collectors Saiqa and Syed Sadaf Ali Shah.
Speaking on the occasion, Qurban Ali Khan said that although warehouses already existed in different districts, including Nowshera, Mardan, Abbotabad, Bannu and D.I. Khan, there was a need to have a big warehouse for the storage of smuggled goods as the number of smuggled goods' seizures had increased.
The newly-constructed warehouse will not only facilitate the staff of Peshawar's Model Customs Collector's office, but would also ensure transparency in the handling of confiscated goods, he added. At the outset, the collector customs lauded the efforts of customs' officials for timely completion of the project.
