FIA lodges FIR against NAB's deputy chief

On approval of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday registered a case against deputy chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for alleged misuse of authority during his tenure at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). An official said that FIA has completed investigation against Deputy Chairman NAB Imtiaz Tajwar and registered an FIR against him for misusing his authority and corruption under section 5(2)47.
He said the investigation revealed that Tajwar, while misusing his powers, used funds of NADRA for his personal interests and committed huge corruption. Source said that the accused spent NADRA's funds for purchasing I-phones, perfumes, sacrificial animals and gifts for relatives as well as for paying gas bills, children's visa fees and membership fee of Islamabad Club, during his tenure from 2014-15 in the NADRA. In October last, the interior minister had ordered FIA to launch a formal inquiry against the said official and submit report within one month.
