Rs 5 billion corruption case: hearing against Sharjeel, others adjourned

The Accountability Court on Tuesday heard Rs 5 billion corruption case against former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and others. Memon's counsel told the court that Islamabad High Court (IHC) had granted his client protective bail till 5th April. He further told the court that his client would first approach Sindh High Court for securing interim bail in the corruption reference.
NAB lawyer submitted that the court had ordered initiation of proceeding to declare the former minister absconder. He pleaded the court to fix hearing of the case before 5th April so that the accused can be indicted. The court adjourned further hearing of the case till 6th April.
Sharjeel Memon and others accused have been charged in the NAB reference of misusing power and authority and embezzlement in distribution of government advertisements amounting to Rs 5billion. Information Department officials including Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, Mansoor Ahmed and others are co-accused in the Rs 5 billion corruption case.
