PFA DG briefed about plans about food, nutrition

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Noorul Amin Mengal visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore and held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Doctor Talat Naseer Pasha and senior professors. The Vice-Chancellor briefed the Food Authority DG on the departments and degree programmes related to food and nutrition, food safety hazards and lab and other facilities to check the food adulterants and hazards for food safety.
He told DG that the university has taken various initiatives to develop healthy eating habits among students and staff such as banning cold and carbonated drinks on the campus, replacing them with flavoured milk. Professor Pasha called for initiating a 'school milk program', in which a glass of milk a day should be given to schoolchildren to attract them to schools and improve their health, consequently solving the issue of malnutrition.
