E&T department recovers over Rs 0.6 million

Excise and Taxation Department has recovered Rs 628,164 from tax defaulting vehicles' owners across the province. The Excise department launched a road checking campaign to nab taxes across the province. According to details during the last two days as many 3139 tax defaulting vehicles were checked. Approximately, 1583 vehicles in Karachi, 593 in Hyderabad, 227 in Sukkur, 234 in Larkana, 285 in Mirpurkhas and 217 in Shaheed Benazirabad were checked.
According to an estimate nearly Rs 127,254 tax collected in Hyderabad, Rs 94,701 in Sukkur, Rs 59,876 in Larkana, Rs 107,589 in Mirpurkhas and Rs 117,044 in Shaheed Benazirabad.
Nearly, Rs 628,164 including penalty were collected. It is to mention here that as many 116 vehicles were impounded yet while documents of 373 vehicles were also seized, however 161 vehicles were released after getting due taxes and penalty as well. Meanwhile, the Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed the officers assigned for the campaign to perform their duties without any fear and recover tax from tax defaulting vehicles.
