Huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes seized

Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue has conducted three raids/searches at Hyderabad Faisalabad and Lahore and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes.
According to details, in connection with a nationwide campaign launched by FBR against non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes under the directions of Director General Khawaja Tanveer Ahmad, the staff of Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, after completion of all legal formalities conducted three raids/searches in three days at Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Lahore and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes.
The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, Lahore, on the specific instruction of the director general has conducted five raids/searches at different places of Sheikhupura and Lahore during the month of March 2017 which led to recovery of 1,020 cartons of non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes valuing Rs 45 million approximately which in total comprise of 10,200,000 sticks. On Thursday, after obtaining search warrant from the concerned judicial magistrate the staff of Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, Lahore, conducted search/raid on the business premises of a cigarette trader, Tobacco Market, Talab Mela Ram, opposite to Railway Station Lahore and seized more than 600 cartons of local branded and counterfeit cigarettes valuing Rs 30 million approximately with each carton containing 10,000 cigarettes totaling to 6,000,000 sticks. The drive against non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes by the Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue will affect the market of non-duty paid local branded and counterfeit cigarettes which will certainly increase the government revenue in the legally produced cigarette sector.
