The Karachi Port handled 180,467 tonnes of cargo comprising 155,143 tonnes of import cargo and 25,324 tonnes of export cargo including 7,456 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 155,143 tonnes comprised of 61,782 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,282 tonnes of general cargo; 46,288 tonnes of coal and 41,791 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,324 tonnes comprised of 24,979 tonnes of containerised cargo and 345 tonnes of general cargo.
As many as 7,456 containers comprising of 4,214 containers import and 3,242 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,538 of 20's and 1,199 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 139 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 837 of 20's and 240 of 40's loaded containers while 525 of 20's and 700 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MSC Positano, Torm Trinity, FPMC P Alpine, Aqua Prosper, Draft Slayer and Iris Halo carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Maliakos, Gulf Glow-II, Pretty World, SC Brilliant, Everrich-3, Ardmore Defender and Ikan Senyur carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely Maliakos, Northern Dependant, YM Cypress, TRF Mongstad, Green Phoenix and Da Liang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Clemens Schulte, Ardmore Defender and Ikan Senyur carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Explorer, FF Wish and BBC Maple Lotta carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while eight vessels viz. MSC Krittika, Seaspan Grouse, Al Abdali, Hyundai General, Bunga Lavender, SCL Akwaba, Le Rong and BBC Asia carrying containers, chemical, railway engine and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday.
