Modi's visit: shutdown to be observed in IoK today

Complete shutdown will be observed in occupied Kashmir on Sunday (today) against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to the territory. Call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in held Srinagar said that the Indian Prime Minister was visiting at a time, when situation was extremely gloomy and massacres, detentions and blinding of people continued and there seemed no let up. Thousands are languishing in jails and the authorities are denying any space for peaceful political activities, they said. The leaders said, "The Kashmir issue was neither about governance, economic packages or incentives, nor was it a law and order problem, but an issue pertaining to the right to self-determination of millions of Kashmiris." It is to mention here that Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the occupied valley to inaugurate Chenani-Nashri tunnel in Jammu region.
