Lasbela Chamber seeks SEZ in Lasbela

05 Apr, 2017

The Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has suggested that Lasbela district should be given priority in establishment of the special economic zone by the Special Economic Zone Authority of Balochistan under the relevant legal provisions as soon as possible.
LCCI in its report mentioned that it is an established fact that the province of Balochistan, including Lasbela district, has great potential for viable industrial investment for many reasons, thus providing opportunities for economic growth and industrial development in this area.
There are about 300 big and small industries producing a wide range of products are being operated currently at Hub and other parts of Lasbela district contributing a major portion of the federal government's revenue collection in the province of Balochistan and providing employment to thousands of workers, directly or indirectly.
The Lasbela district has great potential for further industrialisation due to very obvious reasons like availability of infra-structure and utilities, proximately of Karachi etc. The LIDA has also many industrial areas in the pipeline for development in consultation with Lasbela chamber. It would not be out of place to mention that after the completion of the under-construction dam at Winder River in the district, it is hoped that tremendous development in the agriculture sector will take place. This will provide opportunities for further investment in agriculture and consequently in various agro products industries.
