Google keeps on adding interesting new features to its Google Maps, and this time it has copied a feature from Facebook Pages by introducing a ‘follow’ options to follow locations and get notified about them.

Tech giant Google added a new feature on Google Maps for Android by adding an option to follow locations and businesses and stay in touch with any new events or upcoming offers featured at that specific location.

According to Google, the feature has already been rolled out and will show up in a newly added ‘For You’ tab that Google uses as a personalized feed of local recommendations and restaurants. Users can personalize that section further by adding in their favorite stores. Google explained that the user would simply have to search for the preferred location and tap the ‘Follow’ button. After following them, news from those places will appear on in the tab.

Google Maps to also share your phone’s battery life along with your location

Furthermore, Google also introduced a feature for those people who want to be aware about all the new places opening soon around them. It explained that for this lookup to be available on Google Maps for Android, places that are opening soon can create a free Business Profile that will show up to people for up to three months before they open, with the official opening date will be shown in orange. This feature, however, will be rolled out over the next few weeks.

“With more than 150 million places on Google Maps and millions of people looking for places to go, we made two updates so it’s even easier for you to keep up with the places you care about and find out about places coming soon,” wrote Google.
