LHC suspends order against Pemra chief

07 Apr, 2017

The Lahore High Court on Thursday suspended an order of a sessions court of Gujranwala that had directed police to register a case against Chairman Pemra Absar Alam. The court issued notices to respondents for April 29 in response to a petition of Pemra Chairman challenging the impugned order for being issued against facts.
The petitioner's counsel, Amir Saeed Raan, argued that the sessions court passed the impugned order on an application of a lawyer who accused Pemra Chairman of hurting sentiments of people. The counsel argued that the sessions court was not competent to hear complaint against Pemra as the authority had established a complaint cell to address the issues of citizens. He asked the court to set aside the impugned order for being illegal.
