'Government focusing on preventive healthcare programme'

The Punjab government is implementing a consolidated and comprehensive preventive healthcare programme for prevention of diseases. Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir stated this while talking to the media after visiting free screening camp organized by the None Communicable Disease Control & Mental Health Programme, Primary & Secondary Health with the collaboration of traders of Panorama center, here Thursday.
Nazir maintained that prevention of diseases is the priority of the government through awareness against the diseases. "The people should spare few moments to pay attention to their health out of busy schedule of life while regular medical checkup is essential to remain update about their health condition," he said. Imran Nazir visited different counters and talked with the doctors and the patients. Project Director NCD Programme Dr Farooq Manzoor, traders of Panorama Center and the officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
More than 500 people got facilitated from the free camp where their sugar tests, asthma, blood pressure, weight and consultation regarding the benefits of none-smoking were provided by the medical officers. Imran Nazir said that the basic objective of holding free screening camp is to create awareness among the masses regarding health issues. He said that fast spread of none communicable diseases has become a world health issue and in Pakistan, diabetes, blood pressure and air pollution is spreading cardiac diseases, kidney problems and blindness.
