Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired three hours long meeting to review overall law and order situation, progress of Safe City Project Lahore and matters related to Safe City Projects in six big cities, here Friday. Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has taken effective measures to protect life and property of the people.
He directed concerned authorities to take all necessary steps to improve law & order situation and added that Police should perform its duties diligently for eradicating criminal elements and indiscriminate action be continued against them. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has provided all-out resources to improve public peace and will do so in future as well. He said that information technology is being benefited for implementing integrated program to secure cities and Punjab Safe City project has been started in this regard which is directly related to improving law & order situation. Therefore, pace of work should further be accelerated to complete it within stipulated period and Cabinet Committee on Law & Order itself take decisions regarding setting up of this project in six cities, he added. He directed to constitute a committee for furthering the affairs of Safe City Projects in six cities.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Safe City Projects hold the key to combat terrorism so work in a professional manner needs to be carried out keeping in mind their uniqueness and innovation. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ayub Gadhi, Jahangir Khanzada, Advisor Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Acting Inspector General Police and concerned officials and senior officers attended the meeting.
