Pakistan to have new film policy: Marriyum

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday that a film policy would be announced in a few months to incentivize the ailing entertainment industry. She was addressing the media at the Governor's House after the inauguration session of a two-day conference titled "First National Consultation on Pakistan Film Policy 2017." The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Information.
She said the government wants to start a cultural campaign against terrorism and extremism by giving a boost to the film industry. "Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is very keen on reviving film industry," she said. "Tourism and films can improve the global view of the country," she added, saying that quality entertainment through films could ease the stress of the masses She also said Pakistan Television would soon initiate special transmissions for children, and that PTV's arts academy would revived through public- private partnership.
