The Karachi Port handled 195,262 tonnes of cargo comprising 166,730 tonnes of import cargo and 28,532 tonnes of export cargo including 6,678 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 166,730 tonnes comprised of 53,339 tonnes of containerised cargo; 37,108 tonnes of general cargo; 51,283 tonnes of bulk cargo: 43,678 tonnes of coal; 595 tonnes of seeds; 7,010 tonnes of fertilizer and 25,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,532 tonnes comprised of 20,182 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,678 containers comprising of 3,738 containers import and 2,940 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,449 of 20's and 1,054 of 40's loaded while 09 of 20's and 86 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 510 of 20's and 297 of 40's loaded containers while 722 of 20's and 557 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely OOCL Norfolk, Prosper, CMA CGM Verginia, Zhong Ji No 1, Navig8 Gallantry, Chemroute Pegasus, Aziz Torlak and White Fin carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Cap Arnauti, Northern Dependant, CMA CGM Verginia, X-Press Kailash, Bochem Ghent and Asphalt Princess carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Ital Milione, X-Press Kailash and Clipper Innovation carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday. There were four vessels YM Cypress, Aragonit, Yangzi Happiness and ISE carrying containers, DAP, coal and steel respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, MSC Federica, Clemens Schulte, Ever Divine and SM Mumbai carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 128,321 tonnes includes 37,739 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,700 tonnes of palm oil; 12,250 tonnes of chemical; 10,436 tonnes of soyabean; 16,083 tonnes of coal and 38,114 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 28,082 tonnes includes 28,082 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,484 containers comprising of 2,006 containers import and 1,478 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Messeina and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV UASC Al-Safat and MV Chem Wovering carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Messeina, CV UASC Al-Safat, CV TG Poseidon, CV MSC Positano, MV Dione, MV Freedom Line, MV Chem Wovering, MT Quetta and MT Grand Ace-5currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean. chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely MV RB Edon, MV MR Arcturus, MV Rui Ning-2, MT Globe Tanya, MT Tomson Gas, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Silver Philipa, MT Bneinder, MT Zem Gale, MT Spruce-2, MT Ginga Lion, MT Chemroad Journey and MT Chemroad Mega carrying soyabean, canola, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Al-Ghero, CV X-Press Kailash, MV Chang Ming and MT Formosa Falcon carrying containers, general cargo and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were four ships namely CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Al-Ghero, CV X-Press Kailash and MV Chang Ming carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV MSC Savannah carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV Suez Canal carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
