11 May, 2017

Young Doctors Association (YDA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned the provincial government to avoid any kind of changes in the postgraduate medical institute (PGMI) otherwise the doctors community will announce province-wide protest after one week.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, YDA President Dr Asfandiyar said the government was trying to shut the PGMI but the doctors would not let it do so. He said it was the only institution wherein the doctors could get training and it was duty of the government to further strengthen it, saying that some vested interests were active against the institution.
Flanked by YDA office-bearers of different units including provincial General Secretary Dr Rizwan Kundi, Press Secretary Dr Adil, Dr Tariq, Dr Ali, Dr Rahamdil, Dr Tauseef, he also expressed grave concern over the delay in compensation for the families of the deceased doctors. He urged the government to pay compensation to the families of Dr Murtaza, Dr Daud and Dr Faisal.
Besides, Dr Asfandiyar asked the government to provide benefits of endowment fund to the house officers and TMOs and ensure their promotion as per commitment. The doctors, he said, had already presented charter of demands to the health department but it was using delaying tactics to approve the service structure in real sense and thus a sense of deprivation still persisted among the doctors community.
