Indian army officer found dead in Shopian

An Indian army officer was found dead in Shopian district, the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported on Wednesday. The body of the Lieutenant rank officer with bullet wounds was found in Hermain area of the district, police said. The police said that the army officer, hailing from Kulgam district, had gone to Shopian to attend the marriage function of a relative.
On the other hand, a Special Police Officer, who got critically injured during a mysterious firing in Doda district on Monday, succumbed to his injuries at Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a police inspector posted as Station House Officer (SHO) at police station Kana Chack has been attached to District Police Lines Jammu over allegations of sexual assault on a woman in custody. As per reports, a 25-year-old woman claimed that she was tortured by the local police officer while in custody at police station Kana Chak. The incident was reported from city outskirts where the victim woman works as a domestic helper.
