Appointments case: LHC seeks reply from government

11 May, 2017

The Lahore High Court has sought reply from the Punjab government and Higher Education Department by May 29 in a petition challenging appointments of director education (colleges) DG Khan and principal of Government College, Ravi Road. The petitioner, Muhammad Ali Shakuri, pleaded that the government appointed Dr Altaf Hussain as director education (colleges) DG Khan Division and Dr Muhammad Mufakkir as principal of Government College, Ravi Road, in violation of criteria for the posts of professors.
The petitioner's counsel, Nasir Qureshi, argued before the court that the advertisement had required the candidates to submit six research papers in principal journals besides other qualification. The lawyer stated that the research papers submitted by the both respondents were invalid for being published in either ghost or non-recognized journals.
