Punjab to recruit 80,000 teachers this year: minister

Punjab School Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that as much as eighty thousand educators would be recruited this year. Similarly, the number of primary teaching posts has been increased from two to four in every government school. Meanwhile, the female candidates would also be eligible for recruitment in boys' schools on the basis of merit.
However, in case of concerned village, 12 additional marks and 8 marks in case of concerned union council, would be given for hiring teachers at the local level. He said this while addressing the meeting which held at Committee Room of Schools Education Department, here on Friday. He said that the Chief Executive Education Officers have been directed to prepare merit lists without any further delay so that the process of recruitment and training of educators could be started as soon as possible.
The minister said that government is committed to expedite the education promotion at the grassroots so that 100 percent enrollment target could be achieved by 2018. It is hoped that the recruitment of eighty thousand educators would further expedite the process of education promotion, he added. Meanwhile, while addressing another meeting at the committee room of Schools Education Department, the Minister Rana Mashhood said that Punjab is a land of changing vistas and it has a rich history of art, culture and traditions. The meeting was told that 2nd Lahore International Conference on Culture would be held in the provincial metropolis from July 27 to 29.
