THE RUPEE: all-round slides

The rupee fell against the major currencies on the money market on Monday in the process of trading activity, dealers said. The rupee shed three paisas versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.83 and Rs 104.85, they said.
The weekend cyber attack, which slowed down after a security researcher stumbled on a way to at least temporarily limit the worm's spread, was expected to speed up on Monday when employees returning to work turned on their computers.

The demand and supply situation of the US dollar remained intact that kept the local currency stabilised. Consequently, it did not witness change and maintained its last closing tend of Rs 105.90 and Rs 106.10 on buying and selling sides, said local currency dealers.
Furthermore, the local currency registered reduction against the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates drifted from Saturday's closing rates of Rs 135.70 and Rs 136.50 to Rs 136.10 and Rs 136.70 respectively, they added.
The dollar opened at Rs 105.95 (buying) and Rs 106.05 (selling) against last rate of Rs 105.90 (buying) and Rs 106 (selling). It closed at Rs 105.95 (buying) and Rs 106.05 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 135 (buying) and Rs 135.50 (selling). It closed at the same rate.
