Government working for revival of country's image: Marriyum

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government is working for the revival of the image of Pakistan which has been tarnished due to terrorism and extremism. During the national dialogue on 'Culture of Tolerance: Reviving the Indigenous,' she said parliamentarians, representatives from media and civil society deliberated upon ways to revive the national narrative of peace, tolerance and harmony.
The minister appreciated the role and sacrifices of the political parties and workers for strengthening the political culture in the country. She said that undemocratic system in the country disturbed the public narrative. She added that democratic system, which prevails in the country has strengthened the image of Pakistan. She said operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is also aimed at bringing about a change in the mindset.
The minister said that PTV's Children Channel is to be launched to inculcate the sense of tolerance and promote national narrative among the younger generation. She expressed the confidence that revival of the film industry would also contribute towards tackling the menace of extremism and terrorism.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said all provincial governments stand united with the federal government to promote the national narrative on tolerance and peace. She said the government will provide special incentives in the upcoming budget to help implement the steps taken in this regard. The minister further said, "Islam teaches us tolerance and forgiveness."
