The local tiles manufacturers will increase market share by 12 percent, if the government continues Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) on Chinese tiles imports, said top official of the Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics. Speaking to an event organised at a recreational club, here, CEO Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics Masood Jafferi that the market share of local and imported tiles was almost equal (50-50) and the government has now imposed ADD provisionally on Chinese tiles imports in order to protect local tiles industry.
He said that if the ADD remained unchanged on Chinese tiles imports, then local tiles manufacturers would be able to increase market share of local tiles by 12 percent in coming years. He said that the local tiles manufacturers would also pour more investments which would help improve quality and standard of local tiles.
"The growth rate of tiles industry is roaming around nine percent on year-on-year basis and CPEC project is a lucrative opportunity for the industry," he said.
