The 'Youm-e-Takbeer' will be marked today (Sunday) to commemorate the successful conduct of nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, with a resolve to defend the country against any aggression. The day is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm to remind the struggle and great odds Pakistan faced in achieving the nuclear capabilities despite international pressure.
To mark the day, special prayers will be offered for peace, progress and prosperity of the country. Events will be organized in which speakers will pay tributes to the team of nuclear scientists who did raise Pakistan's strategic status in the comity of nations and signified the principle of self-reliance.
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will mark the day in a befitting manner. Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, a senior PML-N leader, said May 28 is indeed a day of pride for the Pakistani nation and the Muslims all over the globe. He said Pakistan's nuclear programme was evolved to make the homeland unbeatable so that no one can dare to cast an evil eye on it. The nuclear tests carried out on May 28, 1998, is a historic achievement of which the whole nation is proud of. Radio and television channels will broadcast special programmes in which defence analysts, educationists and intellectuals will highlight the importance of the day.
