National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prepared corruption cases to the tune of Rs 3.5 billion and submitted with accountability courts for taking action against the corrupt elements. This was said by Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) KP, Muhammad Sajjad while addressing a press conference here at his office.
DG NAB said the corruption cases have been submitted with accountability courts which have started working over it. Muhammad Sajjad said in categorical terms that wherever there is a report of corruption in any department of provincial government, NAB will take action and recover the stolen money. He also clarified that no one is above the law and every one will face action apart from his official position and political influence.
DG NAB told newsmen that the department has received around 2000 complaints out of which initial investigation is in progress on 479, investigation is in progress over 40 complaints and 70 are passing through the process of inquiry.
Some of the complaints have been forwarded to concerned departments for appropriate action, he continued. He informed media that in two years period about 25 references were filed wherein there is a charge on 68 persons of embezzlement of around Rs 3.5 billion. He claimed that due to intervention of NAB, corruption ratio has been dropped in government departments.
