Two volunteers of pro-government militia, Tawheed-ul-Islam (TI) killed and one sustained injuries in mine blast that took place in Narai Kandow area of Tirah valley, Khyber Agency. The administration and Levies sources told that last night the supporters of TI on-board a vehicle were passing through the locality when it hit a road side anti-vehicle mine, planted by unknown militants.
Two volunteers of TI were killed on the spot while one sustained injuries and was shifted to nearest health center for medical aid. The deceased were identified as Mehar Jan and Hazrat Khan whereas the injured was recognized as Said Wali. Soon after the incident, officials of the security agencies moved to the site and collected evidence for investigation. TI is the local peace keeping organization of Zaka Khel that along with forces has been active in wiping out militants from the Tirah Valley.
Meanwhile, at least five profiteers were arrested by the local political administration in campaign initiated against profiteers and hoarders here in Landi Kotal bazaar in tribal Agency. The political tehsildar, Landi Kotal, Irshad Mohmand said that on eve of Ramazan, price control committee had been formulated to keep vigil on prices in the local bazaar.
However after receiving complaints that some of the traders were charging extra-prices for commodities of every day use; surprise visits of different sections of the bazaar were conducted to restrain the shopkeepers from fleecing the masses in the month of Ramazan. Five shopkeepers were found involved in malpractices and were detained and put behind bars for further interrogation. No one will be allowed to cheat and loot the laymen; law breakers will have to face prison sentence and heavy fines would be imposed on them, he said. The locals appreciated the impressive price control monitoring system and said that the monitoring has helped in controlling price hike in the area during the month of Ramadan.
