Education can help overcome challenge of extremism: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that war against poverty, unemployment, ignorance and extremism can only be won through education. He said this while chairing a meeting, which reviewed plan of bringing improvement of teachers' training programme.
Secretary School Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik gave a briefing regarding promotion of quality education and proposed plan of teachers' training programme. Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said, "Our future is linked with education and steps taken by Punjab government for the promotion of education have proved fruitful."
He said quality training of teachers is of paramount importance for equipping the children of the nation with modern knowledge. He said that enhancing teaching capability of teachers has been the top priority of Punjab government. "We have to move forward by accepting the challenge of standard training of teachers as well trained teachers will impart knowledge to the children of the nation in an excellent manner.
He directed to constitute a high level committee which will review the proposed plan and give a final shape to the recommendations at the earliest. Provincial Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, Special Assistant Malik Ahmed Khan, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, secretaries of concerned departments and educationists were present on the occasion.
