PAF to upgrade Multan Air university

Pakistan Air Force is going to launch enhancement plan of the new campus of "Air University Multan Sub-Campus" at Bahawalpur Road, Multan at a distance of 19-km from the Multan city. Currently, a sub-campus of Air University Islamabad is working at Abdali Road Multan in a commercial plaza and 700 students are enrolled here. After the completion of the new campus of Air University Multan Sub-Campus will be established in an area of 28 acres and will accommodate more than 5000 students in the disciplines of Aviation Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Sciences and Health Sciences which will serve as cornerstone for the social and economic uplift of the people of southern districts of Punjab.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a special committee under the convenership of Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja to ascertain the quantum and kind of meaningful assistance from Punjab government to facilitate PAF in expeditious completion of the enhancement plan of the Air University Multan Sub Campus.
A meeting of the special committee was held under the chairmanship of the ACS Shamail Ahmad Khawaja was convened at Civil Secretariat Lahore on Wednesday. Secretary Higher Education Punjab Captain Naseem Nawaz (Retd), Member (Education) Punjab Higher Education Commission Khalid Sultan, Member Board of Revenue Punjab Muhammad Anees Sadozai, Additional Secretary Finance Abdul Samad and Additional Secretary (Welfare) S&GAD Danish Afzaal participated in the meeting while Divisional Commissioner Multan Bilal Ahmed Butt, Rector Air University Islamabad Air Commodore Muhammad Saleem (Retd) and Director P&D Air University Islamabad were present on video link.
The enhancement plan of Air University Multan Sub Campus was discussed in detail during the meeting. The meeting was informed that PAF has already purchased 15 acres of state land at the rate of Multan District's land valuation table and additional land of 13 acres adjacent to the current boundary wall of the under construction new sub-campus is required to be purchased. The enhancement plan is comprised of four phases with a gestation period of four calendar years.
The plan includes construction of four academic blocks and three residential hostels. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmed Khawaja apprised the PAF authorities that the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is infused with the spirit of nationhood.
The special committee constituted by the Punjab Chief Minister will submit its detailed report in this regard within a week so that the Chief Minister could look up to the nature and extent of qualitative and quantitative assistance to be extended to expeditious completion of the Air University Multan Sub-Campus enhancement plan.
