Bahadurabad Police has registered an FIR against PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi, Aaj News reported on Sunday night. The case was registered on the complaint of a policeman. It is relevant to add here that Attorney General Pakistan had written a letter to Sindh Police for initiating proceedings against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi over his 'contemptuous' speech against judiciary and threatening remarks against Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing ruling Sharif family's business dealings abroad.
According to the letter, the AGP Ashtar Ausaf, who has been appointed as prosecutor in the case against Hashmi, says that the speech attracts action under sections 189, 228 and 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). "Since the speech was reportedly made in Karachi, therefore you are requested to look into the matter and may consider drawing up appropriate proceedings in this regard," the letter stated, a copy of which was also sent to Sindh Advocate General (AG).
