Partly Facetious: Accept ground realities and move on

06 Jun, 2017

"Why don't Pakistanis understand what is there is there? Accept ground realities and move on."
"If you are referring to the exception taken by the Sharif House against judicial remarks then I am afraid there are no ground realities - each time there is a testing of waters if you will and they may seem to you to be very hot but God be praised Man sahib, the man who indefatigably strives for...."
"Conflict?"
"Don't interrupt, and no, conflict was not the word I was looking for, one word won't do justice to what Mian sahib strives for, let's see he always strives for putting people in their right place, not allow them to take liberties and if you were referring to Hussain Nawaz's photograph looking forlorn then let me tell you..."
"Sorry to interrupt but the proverb a picture is more than a 1000 words is not applicable in our Islamic Republic. Here we have two opposing interpretations. The Maryam Nawaz Brigade has condemned the release as it shows a forlorn looking First Son, and claims that reflects badly on the party, though personally I would have thought it shows that he is being treated like everyone else and that's good..."
"No, I don't think that is not what the Brigade is projecting, the confidence displayed by the First Son in public amidst his dad's loyalists is precisely what he is displaying with the JIT - see innocence is reflected by confidence while guilt by looking forlorn or such is their argument."
"I don't know about that. I was looking pretty forlorn when Pakistan lost so badly to the Indians in cricket."
"Actually that is what I began by saying. Why don't we acknowledge ground realities? That we have a bad cricket team and move on....and that's what Mian sahib's Special Advisor on Cricket and the man Who Shall Remain Nameless always maintains, you know like Mian sahib and family have always been rich so what's the big deal of these Mayfair flats, incidentally the same argument can be put forth by the Bhuttos and the Zardaris and..."
"Right, but speaking of cricket that's not even a good excuse for continuing to head the board with the team slowly decaying..."
"Not that slowly, it has to be completed by next year's elections."
"Don't be facetious."
