The Karachi Port handled 77,556 tonnes of cargo comprising 56,029 tonnes of import cargo and 21,527 tonnes of export cargo including 4,526 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 56,029 tonnes comprised of 31,509 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,470 tonnes of general cargo; 18,050 tonnes of bulk cargo: 11,942 tonnes of coal; 2,686 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 422 tonnes of fertilizer; 3,000 tonnes of soyabean meal and 31,509 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,527 tonnes comprised of 16,977 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of general cargo and 4,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,526 containers comprising of 2,678 containers import and 1,848 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 672 of 20's and 821 of 40's loaded while 46 of 20's and 159 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 485 of 20's and 282 of 40's loaded containers while 189 of 20's and 305 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely KMTC Dubai, Hyundai Brave, OOCL California, Alexandria Bridge, Akinada Bridge and Kiran America carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. X-Press Kailash, Sima Genesis, Wide India, Maribor, APL Coral, Nautical Marie, Jasco Fuzhou and Johanna Oldendorff carrying containers, fertilizer and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Wawasan Sapphire and YU Bright carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely Polo carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday. There were four vessels viz. Prosper, North Glory, MT Lahore and Lina Hua Song carrying containers, oil tankers and railways bogies respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Kota Karim, Malikos, MOL Explorer, Chemroad Fuji and Senorita carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
