50 millions grant for PPL Chair at NED

"As a major stakeholder in fulfilling country's energy requirements, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) remains committed to investing in human resource development and use of latest technology for the exploration and production sector through academia-industry partnership under its CSR programme," highlighted MD and CEO PPL Syed Wamiq Bokhari during the handing over of the first tranche to NED University of Engineering and Technology (NED) for the PPL Chair in Petroleum Engineering (PE). As such, the company has committed an overall grant of Rs 50 million over the next five years with an annual disbursement of nearly Rs 10 million.
Chairman, Department of PE, NED Professor Abid Murtaza Khan and PPL Chair at NED Dr Syed Muhammad Tariq jointly received the cheque from Bokhari at a simple ceremony held on June 7 at PPL's head office in the presence of officials from both organisations. Established earlier, the Chair became functional with a full time professor on board in August 2016. The Chair aims to prepare future human resource through encouraging research and development within existing graduate programme as well as initiating a postgraduate degree in PE. The Chair will also pursue collaboration with reputed foreign institutions.
The company has already established chairs in leading public and private sector universities, including a PE Chair at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro as well as two Geo physics chairs, each at Bahria University, Karachi Campus and University of Sindh, Jamshoro.-PR
