Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah Saturday wrote a letter to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq wherein he urged him to issue production order for MNA Jamshed Dasti to attend National Assembly's ongoing budget session. Shah in the letter requested the Speaker to issue a production order to ensure Dasti's presence despite his arrest. He wrote in the letter, "As opposition leader I request you to issue production order for Dasti so that he can participate in the budget session of the House without any hindrance."
In his letter, the opposition leader said the MNA was arrested when he was going to his constituency in Muzaffargarh from Islamabad. He said that Dasti has the right to attend ongoing budget session of the National Assembly. He accused the government of using such tactics due to pressure from the Panama Papers case investigation. Dasti was arrested on Thursday in Muzaffargarh for allegedly instigating locals to open the headway of Kalu Irrigation Canal after which a case was lodged against him. He was later sent to District Jail Multan on a 12-day remand. Dasti defended his actions, saying he was trying to help local farmers in getting water for their crops.
