The Karachi Port handled 362,273 tonnes of cargo comprising 291,923 tonnes of import cargo and 70,350 tonnes of export cargo including 9,188 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 291,923 tonnes comprised of 99,300 tonnes of containerised cargo; 720 tonnes of general cargo; 79,021 tonnes of bulk cargo: 55,682 tonnes of coal; 4,573 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 15,808 tonnes of fertilizer; 2,958 tonnes of soyabean meal and 112,882 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 70,350 tonnes comprised of 40,650 tonnes of containerised cargo; 600 tonnes of general cargo and 29,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,188 containers comprising of 5,338 containers import and 3,850 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,544 of 20's and 1,790 of 40's loaded while 64 of 20's and 75 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 594 of 20's and 510 of 40's loaded containers while 332 of 20's and 952 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MOL Explorer, Najran, YM Orchid, Bengal Orchid and IYO carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. APL Coral, Northern Dependant, Hyundai Global, BW Thames, Minoan Courage, CNS Chang Chun, CNS Chao Hu, CNS Jing Zhou and IYO carrying containers, oil tankers, naval ships and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Global, Express Black Sea and Champion Tide carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while five ships namely Cosco Fukuyama, BW Thames, CNS Chang Chun, CNS Chao Hu and CNS Jing Zhou carrying containers, oil tanker and naval ships are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were seven vessels viz. Piraeus, Hoston Express, Mid Falcon, Glovis Sun, IVS Crimson Creek, Lina Hua Song and Ocean Princess carrying containers, chemical, vehicles, coal, railway bogies and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while two vessels viz. MSC Krittika and Yasa Pembe carrying containers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A cargo volume of 146,930 tonnes comprising 113,262 tonnes of import cargo and 33,668 tonnes of export cargo including 3,109 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 113,262 tonnes includes 16,890 tonnes of furnace oil; 14,750 tonnes of palm oil; 3,468 tonnes of canola seeds; 8,449 tonnes of soyabean; 20,500 tonnes of LNG; 1,543 tonnes of LPG; 1,259 tonnes of general cargo and 25,403 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,668 tonnes includes 33,668 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,109 containers comprising of 1,337 containers import and 1,772 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Puget and MT Solaris carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely CV TG Poseidon, MV Lian Hua Song and MT Caspian Gas carrying containers, general cargo and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV TG Poseidon, CV CMA CGM Puget, CV Hugo Schulte, CV Senorita, MV Lian Hua Song, MV Anthemis, MV Nord Destiny, MT North Gas, MT Caspian Gas, Solaris, Maritime Lira and Lion-M currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola seeds, soyabean seeds, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty-three ships namely CV MSC Federica, MV Bao An Ling, MV Calipso, MV Star Trader, MV Safizaya Diaono, MV Eternal Triumph, MV Nord Leader, MV Friendly Seas, MV Central Park, MV Tiamat Gas, MT White Pearl, MT Maga Rita, MT Al-Salam-II, MT BW Zamesi, MT Bahra, MT Bneider, MT Al Mahfooz, MT Lion-M, MT Shalamar, MT Ginga Tiger, MT Sun Plaeg, MT YM Jupiter and NCC Maha carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Pine, CV Prosper, CV MSC Federica, MV Nord Leader and MV Central Park carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Pine, CV Maersk Chicago, CV Prosper and MV Yuan Hai carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Express Black Sea and CV APL Charleston carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
