Members of Punjab Women Protection Authority notified

Punjab government has notified the members of the Punjab Women Protection Authority in terms of Section 3 of the Punjab Women Protection Authority Act 2017. The Authority, headed by Punjab chief minister will comprise of 16 members. Director General Strategic Reform Unit, Salman Sufi has been appointed as Acting Director General of the Authority.
The Authority will have representation of four Punjab Assembly members namely Hameeda Waheed ud Din, Ayesha Javed, Mahmood Cheema and Khurrum Ijaz Chattha. In view of experience in the field of women rights and empowerment, Fauzia Viqar, Fiza Farhan, Rana Maqbool Ahmed (former IGP) and Dr Zakria Zakar (Dean Institute of Social & Cultural Studies, Punjab University) have been notified as the technocrat members of the Authority.
The Authority's Board will have a set of ex-officio members comprising of Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Inspector General Police, Punjab, Secretary Finance, Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary Women Development and Secretary Public Prosecution.
