The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 to Pizza Hut situated on M M Alam road because of dirty premises and not having address of the production unit on eatables.Surprise checking was made by the DG PFA Noor Ul Amin Mengal during 'Sehri' as part of its move to ensure provision of healthy and quality food to the citizen in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab.
According to details, Mengal checked various food points during Sehar and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Mehar Asad Hotel in Guru Mangat Road on the charges of using unhealthy ingredients and improper cleanliness.Nevertheless Xi Wang restaurant was lauded for maintaining cleanliness and quality of the food items being served.
Mengal said that special squads have been constituted to check the quality of food during Sehar and Iftaar time. He warned those selling unhealthy food to look for any other business as the authority would not allow serving of unhygienic items.Meanwhile special teams also checked various Ramzan bazaars in the provincial metropolis and they wasted basin, vermicelli, rotten tomatoes, mangoes, onion and other fruit and vegetables on being substandard.
