The Karachi Port handled 305,057 tonnes of cargo comprising 145,362 tonnes of import cargo and 159,695 tonnes of export cargo including 8,104 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 145,362 tonnes comprised of 83,479 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,033 tonnes of general cargo; 29,761 tonnes of bulk cargo: 13,300 tonnes of coal; 12,239 tonnes of fertilizer; 4,222 tonnes of soyabean meal and 30,089 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 159,695 tonnes comprised of 41,796 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,031 tonnes of general cargo; 30,000 tonnes of coal; 13,706 tonnes of fertilizer; 5,562 tonnes of soyabean meal and 63,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,104 containers comprising of 4,296 containers mport and 3,808 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,338 of 20's and 1,301 of 40's loaded while 42 of 20's and 157 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 427 20's and 362 40's loaded containers while 66of 20's and 994 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eleven ships namely MSC Krittika, Al Farahidi, CMA CGM Puget, MT Lahore, Najdiah, Chemroad Fuji, Nautical Alice, Stove Caledonia, Bsle Nina, Sl Teal and Han Xin carrying containers, oil takners, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. Sima Genesis, Hyundai Faith, Kota Lahir, New Ark, Mid Falcon, Zao Galaxy, Sinar Kutai, Bsle Nina and Han Xin carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Hyundai Faith, New Ark, Chemroad Sakura and Lian Hua Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ship namely Sima Genesis, Kota Lahir and Calix carrying containers and meal respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, UAFL Zanzibar, Hyperion Highway and Star Jiang carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Monday while four vessels viz. YM Cypress, Prosper, Iasonas and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, mogas and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
