Senior Vice President (SVP), Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has expressed gratitude to Governor KP Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Federal Minster for Commerce, Khurram Dastagir Khan, Corps Commander, Peshawar, Nazir Ahmad Butt, Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC), Mazhar Shaheen Mahmood and Collector Customs, Peshawar, Qurban Ali Khan for the opening of Borki and Kharlachi check posts in Kurram Agency for trade with Afghanistan.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Sarhadi said that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which has been declined even below US $1 billion, is due to misunderstandings and issues of law and order. The opening of these border check posts, he said will not only strengthen bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, rather will also provide maximum benefits to the business community of both countries.
He said that Ghulam Khan Check Post is closed due to military operation since June 2014 while Angoor Adda and other trade passes are closed due to terrorism. He stressed need for guaranteeing that these reopened trade stations should not closed once again and already closed customs stations should also be opened for trade to stabilize the economy of both neighbouring countries.
