The employees of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) gets furor during a speech of LESCO Chief Syed Wajid Ali Kazmi in a function organised to celebrate uninterrupted power supply to consumers during the holy month of Ramazan. The employees made a hue and cry for up-gradation of scales and demanded safety equipment at the function at the Bakhtiar Labour Hall on Thursday. Earlier, General Secretary of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Worker Union Khurshid Ahmed urged the linemen to refuse repairing of transmission lines without safety equipment.
The LESCO chief assured the workers of fulfilling their demands and also informed them that the ministry of water and power has approved procurement of 128 bucket trains for linemen. He appreciated the LESCO staff for uninterrupted power supply amid extreme summer and torrential rains. He further said that steps are being taken to overcome system deficiencies.
