The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has launched a project worth Rs 222.610 million for fruit fly management aimed at enhancing the production of different fruits including mangoes, citrus and guava. According to a departmental spokesman, this project would cover orchards spreading over 50,000 acres throughout the province. He hoped that controlling this pest would help enhance the exports of these fruits. The project would cover mango orchards spreading over 20,000 acres, citrus orchards spreading over 26,500 acres and guava on 3500 acres of land.
