10 Jul, 2017

The Torwali Research Forum, a Behrain (Swat) based literary and cultural organization, has published its literary and cultural magazine, "Watan". The journal basically focuses on three languages, Torwali, Pashto and Indus Kohistani. All the three languages are spoken in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. National language Urdu has been used to facilitate those who want to learn about these languages.
The cover mentions the titles of the six write-ups and names of respective writers along with as many images as relevant to the writings. Manzoor Hussain is the chief editor, Jalaluddin an editor and Muhammad Ziaudin managing editor of the journal that bears a distinction of highlighting some lesser known languages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Gandhara Hindko Academy, Peshawar, has funded the printing costs of the journal as part of its efforts to promote those languages of the province which lack government backing. Though the publication has a number of prose and poetry pieces, the one by Inamullah Torwali from Behrain area in upper Swat is very interesting as it pertains to the linguistic profile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
