The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has asked the shopkeepers of Tollinton Market and their elected representatives to carve out a permanent solution to the issue of some shops having doors opening towards the sewerage nullah. In a warning message issued here on Thursday, the PFA has asked the shopkeepers having doors towards sewerage to permanently close them down as it claimed that meat in these shops catches germs from the sewerage.
The Authority asked the representatives of the market to suggest some permanent and durable solution to this issue. In its routine actions, the Authority on Thursday imposed heavy fines on different food outlets in the city on the charges of flouting hygiene rules. It also issued notices to different other outlets for obtaining license from the Authority.
