Hurriyat leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not allowed to attend the funeral prayers of his maternal uncle in occupied Srinagar on Monday. According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was arrested when he stepped out of his house at Nageen in Srinagar to attend funeral prayer of his maternal uncle and close aide Tariq Ahmed Buch.
Mirwaiz, who is under house arrest from past more than three weeks, tried to defy the detention was arrested by the police. He told media men that he had asked the police officers to accompany him to the funeral of his uncle. "I asked police officers to place me under detention again after offering the funeral of my uncle. But they didn't allow me to join the funeral," he said.
"As I defied house arrest to lead funeral prayers of my maternal uncle and close aide Tariq Ahmed Buch, police arrested and detained me at police station!," tweeted Mirwaiz. Meanwhile, Convener of Hurriyet forum AJK Chapter, Syed Faiz Naqash Bandi in a statement while condemning the curbs on Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed deep sorrow over the death of Tariq Ahmed Buch and expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family.
