PESHAWAR: Environment Protection Agency (EPA) KP has taken action against a Cement Factory in Kohat for creating dust pollution in the city causing public health related problems.
“EPA has taken action against Kohat Cement Factory over public complaints against dust pollution,” says Director General Environment Protection Agency (EPA) KP Dr. Muhammad Bashir.
Talking to APP, Dr. Bashir said the team of EPA visited Kohat Cement Factory on Sunday (Nov 11) and found that the Line A of the factory was creating dust pollution much above the permissible limits.
There are three sections of the factory producing cement, but only one (Line A) found creating dust, he told.
The EPA team, he continued, stopped production from faulty section of the factory by closing it till the time the owner take action for compliance of environmental laws.
Dr. Bashir said EPA cannot allow the factory to operate at the expense of public health and will keep it close till complete following of environmental rules.
