All members of the Sharif family, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, are directly moving towards a 14-year imprisonment. Spokesperson Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhary said this on Tuesday while talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court premises. He said the Prime Minister should see writing on the wall and resign before he is shown the door, claiming that his daughter and both sons will also face 14-year imprisonment in the Panama Papers case.
He said that 'Motu Gang' delivered long and fiery speeches outside the apex court when it came to describing money trail and the Qatari letter in the court, but now they have no words to say in the court. Chaudhary said that since the investigating institutions were subservient to the Sharifs, a transparent probe could not be carried out into the cases against them. Thus, he added, the joint investigation team (JIT) has recommended reopening of old cases against them so that a transparent investigation can be conducted.
The JIT report revealed that the Sharif family's assets are not only in London, but also in Switzerland and other countries and they have no defence for Qatari letter in the Supreme Court, he said. The PML-N admitted about the theft and money laundering but wished for no investigation, he claimed, adding that the government not only admitted the ownership of FZE Capital but also told that the UAE Iqama (work permit) was taken on FZE Capital.
Speaking about the proceedings of the JIT being made public, he said sarcastically the videos should be aired in cinemas, which will also help the film industry prosper. "If the video of Captain Safdar's JIT proceedings are broadcast, it would turn out to be a blockbuster and the tickets would be sold in black," he commented. He said that Nawaz Sharif would go and a new prime minister would come and the entire nation has set eyes on the Supreme Court and judges.
Chaudhary also said the bench's reference to sending the case to national accountability court shows that it is where the case will eventually be sent for further proceedings against the Sharifs. He claimed that the Prime Minister has a week or fortnight left in the office and urged the people to begin preparing for celebrations. Following the adjournment of hearing in the case, Central Secretary Information PTI Shafqat Mehmood said the Sharif family's corruption has been exposed. He said that the Sharif family has failed to produce any documented evidence in their defence to validate their statements.
He spoke further about the ownership of properties by the Sharif family, saying it has been proved that the properties are owned by Maryam Safdar, the Prime Minister's daughter. Shafqat Mehmood said the money trail of the Sharif family was connected to the Gulf Steel Mills, but the United Arab Emirates has no records of the company's dealings.
He said it has also been proved that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the marketing manager of FZE Capital on a salary of UAE dirham 10,000. Mehmood said that the reason behind the setting up of the JIT was to give the Sharif family another chance to prove their innocence and clear their names but nothing was provided yet. He went on to say that the Sharifs' actual business is corruption and the business empire is erected by the wealth the Sharifs looted from the country.
Massive surge in Nawaz Sharif's assets was witnessed whenever he came into power, he claimed while accusing the PML-N leadership of suppressing political opponents by lodging fake cases against them.
