US to help establish HIMS, hospital management

US Commercial Counselor in Pakistan Stephen P. Knode has shown interest for extending technical assistance in setting up latest 'Health Information Management System' (HIMS) and bringing improvement in hospital management. He said this during a meeting with the Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Department (P&SHD) Punjab Ali Jan Khan, here on Friday. Both discussed different options for collaboration between government of Punjab and USA in health sector. The need for a comprehensive and effective disease early warning system also came under discussion.
Stephen also said the US would extend all out cooperation for better disease control by CDC Atlanta. He also showed interest in bringing US firms to participate in upcoming tenders of biomedical equipment. Commercial Specialist US Consulate General Lahore Andrew Doehler, Commercial Specialist Aftab Qamar, Hassan Raza Economic Specialist and Mauaz Raza Economic Specialist US Consulate General were also present on the occasion.
Ali Jan Khan informed the US official about new initiatives taken by P&SHD in line with the vision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for providing quality healthcare facilities to the masses. The US Commercial Counselor appreciated the new initiatives taken by the department and hospitality of people of Punjab assuring all out cooperation by the US government in uplifting health sector in Punjab.
