The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab has warned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of confronting with the institutions. It said the consequences of any such adventurism may be harmful for democracy in the country. Party sources said district level organizational set-ups of the party have been activated and party workers would take to the streets in case the prime minister defied the Supreme Court order. They said majority of the PPP circles were of strong opinion that the Supreme Court would disqualify the prime minister under Article 62(1)-(f).
Meanwhile, the PPP Lahore sources said the party leadership was in the consultation process and soon the party chairman would be invited to address party workers. They said the PPP was fully prepared to launch anti government campaign in collaboration with other opposition parties. Background meetings with opposition camps are underway to finalize a joint strategy in this respect, they added.
Meanwhile, the central leadership of the party has also hinted at convening a meeting of the party to react to the verdict by the Supreme Court. Bilawal is likely to reach Islamabad in first week of August to hold meeting of the central executive committee, federal council and senior leadership of the party.
