The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) on Friday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct the joint research work on seed, to collaborate in seed technologies and other area of mutual concern. The MoU was duly inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and PSC Managing Director Usman Ali at syndicate room. It was agreed upon that the UAF would help in establishment of seed testing laboratories and training of the staff. UAF will facilitate PSC in seed research innovation. UAF will plan projects with PSC to introduce the advance research in seed.
PSC will share latest knowledge of seed production and processing with UAF and recommend course for curriculum on seed sciences and technology. PSC will establish scholarship scheme and support in the internship. Talking to the delegation, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the country was lacking in the usage of machineries at the farms. He said that most of our crops were being sown through broadcasting whereas the drill sowing has become need of the hour to increase the productivity. He said that India is using the technology but we have not applied it yet. He said that UAF was offering advice on seed sciences to address the problems of the seed industry. Director External Linkage Dr Rashid Ahmad, Dr Irfan and other notables were also present on the occasion.
