A Bar member has approached the Lahore High Court against Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Zafar Hijazi with prayer to remove him from post for allegedly tampering the record to rescue the Sharif family in the Panama Papers case. Petitioner, Zahoor Ali, pleaded that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has already registered a case against the SECP chairman on the order of the Supreme Court.
He said it had been established that the respondent misused his powers and committed forgery in government documents to protect the Sharif family against the charges of money laundering and corruption. The lawyer stated that Hijazi was no more eligible to remain in his office.
