Federal Water and Power Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday said that some "international players" were trying to sabotage mega development projects like the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Gwadar port. Addressing a news conference here, he said the government is fully committed to accomplishing both the mega projects at all cost, he added.
The government had initiated various short- and long-term power generation plans. "We will accept the verdict of Supreme Court because PML-N government believes in supremacy of rule of law," he said. The Minister strongly refuted the rumour about an in-house change and said that no such option was under consideration and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will not step aside.
Asif stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is playing the role of "Double Shah" and trying to hoodwink the people through a negative political approach. The minister asked Imran to face accountability process and submit the money trail in the court and justify his income. Asif said that handling of energy crisis was top priority of the PML-N government and by virtue of effective policies of the government, there was no load-shedding in the country.
