Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa has raised concerns over the blame game perpetrated by some quarters in Afghanistan and USA to undermine Pakistan's contributions towards war on terror. The Army Chief expressed these views during his meeting with General John W Nicholson, Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and US Forces in Afghanistan, who called on him at the GHQ on Monday.
Regional security situation and border management issues were discussed. The CoAS said that it is not a coincidence that this theme is being played at a time when policy review is being undertaken in the USA. He said that despite provocations, Pakistan will continue to act positively as it considers defeat of terrorism as a national interest.
General Nicholson reiterated his appreciation of the professionalism of Pakistan Army and his admiration for resilience of people of Pakistan. Both military commanders agreed on need for continuous engagement and co-ordination for peace and stability in the region. US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale was also present during the meeting.
